The USB-COM485-Plus1 module is a single channel USB to RS485 communication unit. The integrated electronics of the USB-COM485-PLUS1 utilise the FTDI FT232R and includes RS485 level shifters plus Power/TXD/RXD LEDs to provide a visual indication of data traffic through the module.
The module uses a standard USB-B unit connector for connection to an upstream host or hub port. RS485-level signals, including RTS/CTS modem handshake signals, are available on an industry-standard DE-9P connector. The module is powered from the host USB port and therefore does not require an external power supply. Pin 9 of the DE-9P connector provides 5V power to external units. The maximum power is 250mA dependent upon the capabilities of the USB host. Local Echo of data may be enabled or disabled. The maximum RS485-level data rate is 3Mbps. The product works with the royalty free FTDI drivers for Windows, MAC, Linux. The USB-COM485-PLUS1 is fully RoHS compliant and is CE and FCC approved. Operating temperature range -40oC to +85oC.

The USB-COM485-Plus2 module is a single USB interface to two independent RS485 ports, communication unit.
The integrated electronics of the USB-COM485-PLUS2 utilise the FTDI FT2232H (USB 2.0 Hi-Speed unit) and includes RS485 level shifters plus Power/TXD/RXD LEDs to provide a visual indication of data traffic through the module.
- The module uses a standard USB-mini B unit connector for connection to an upstream host or hub port. RS485-level signals, including RTS/CTS modem handshake signals, are available on an industry-standard DE-9P connector. There is a separate DB9-PE for each RS485 port.
- The module is powered from the host USB port and therefore does not require an external power supply.
- Pin 9 of the DE-9P connector provides 5V power to external units. The maximum power is 250mA dependent upon the capabilities of the USB host.
- Local Echo of data may be enabled or disabled.
- The maximum RS485-level data rate is 10Mbps.
